Title

KDE-Windows Workshop

Description

This training workshop will be a guided program to demonstrate how people can develop/test/package their KDE applications on the Windows platform.

Topics include:

  • The buildsystem.
  • OS intricacies.
  • Packaging.
  • Deploying applications.

Hosts

  • Casper van Donderen (casper.vandonderen AT gmail.com)
  • Patrick Spendrin (ps_ml AT gmx.de)

Format

Guided training workshop

Estimated duration: 3 hours

Expected number of participants

Anyone with interest in deploying KDE applications on Windows is welcome, it is hard to estimate how many people will come, I assume maximum 20.

Participants

We will demonstrate only using Visual Studio Express 2010 32-bit development, this due to bikeshedding concerns about compilers etc. If there are special considerations to take into account for other compilers we will indicate this during the workshop.

Active participants of the workshop are expected to have a Windows XP or higher OS with Visual C++ 2010 Express installed (either in a VM, or as normal installation)

Additional requirements

A projector
